Mitie has secured a new five-year contract with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), worth £81.7 million, with the option to extend the contract for an additional two years.
The new contract will see Mitie manage planned and reactive engineering maintenance at twelve buildings across three DVLA sites in the Swansea area, including its data centre, training facilities and the office space for almost 6,000 DVLA colleagues.
Mitie will bring its innovative approach to digital remote maintenance to ensure the smooth running of some of DVLA’s key facilities. This includes expert engineers remotely monitoring data from building equipment like heating and air ventilation systems to detect faults before issues arise, as well as identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency of this equipment and reduce energy use where possible.
Along with providing engineering services through this new contract, through a separate project, Mitie also delivers carbon reduction projects across two DVLA sites, including the design, supply and installation of air source heat pumps as well as all associated electrical works. By helping DVLA make the switch to cleaner power, Mitie has supported the Agency in meeting its Greening Government Commitments as the Department for Transport aims to reduce carbon emissions by 62% by 2025.
Jason Towse, Managing Director, Mitie, said:
“We’re pleased to have been awarded this new contract with DVLA to manage planned and reactive engineering works at twelve buildings across three vital sites in Wales. We look forward to bringing our expertise in remote maintenance to transform the way that DVLA’s buildings are managed.”
